Clippers vs. Lakers Prediction for the Battle of LA on Wednesday, 11/1 on ESPN
Looking back at the four meetings between these teams last season, it’s safe to say that the Clippers got the better of the Lakers. Not only did they go 4-0 straight up, but they were also 4-0 against the spread. So, the question is if LeBron and company can break that trend.
On the topic of LeBron, it’s also worth noting that he wasn’t always fully healthy when these teams met. After being on what some considered a minutes restriction in their season-opener this year, LeBron quickly silenced that discussion by playing 35 minutes and nearly recording a triple-double in the Lakers win over the Phoenix Suns.
The Lakers have also won both of their home games this season, so while the Clippers are also comfortable in this arena, that still provides even more hope for Lakers fans. While we wouldn’t be surprised to see them break that trend in terms of the spread, we’d rather back a high-scoring game until we see more from both sides.
We also saw that trend develop in the final two meetings between these LA teams, as they combined for 243 and 248 points in their two most recent matchups. We’ve also seen the Clippers score 123 points twice and 118 in their three games this season, and adding Harden is only going to boost their output.
Even if we don’t get to see him featured just yet, our best Clippers vs. Lakers prediction is still on Over 226 points (-112 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
Clippers vs. Lakers Player Prop Picks & Best Bets Featuring LeBron James & Ivica Zubac
One important note about this matchup is the injury status of Terance Mann for the Clippers. With him not expected on the court tonight, it’s looking as though Amir Coffey will get the start in his place. That provides an opportunity for LeBron to continue asserting his dominance against their cross-town rival.
Despite having a strong defensive presence led by Kawhi Leonard, LeBron has always found a way to show out when facing the Clippers. In four meetings against them last season, he averaged over 32 points, and keep in mind, those were in losses. The Lakers look more primed than ever to win the first matchup this year, so that only means more from LeBron.
When they just played another California team in the Sacramento Kings, the King himself had a ridiculous 27-15-8 game, so we’re willing to back LeBron Over 21.5 points (-108 at FanDuel Sportsbook) as part of our Clippers vs. Lakers player props. We also have another target, which is on the Clippers side of things.
The injury concern on the Lakers is Jarred Vanderbilt, which puts quite a bit of pressure on Anthony Davis down low. Fans already know how hit or miss he can be, so that may provide an opportunity for Clippers’ Ivica Zubac to pull down a significant number of boards. When these teams met in early October last season, the center had an incredible 17-rebound performance.
He also started this season pulling down 12 rebounds, and we already saw Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis pull down 15 rebounds against the Lakers over the weekend. With that in mind, we’ll add to our Clippers vs. Lakers player props with Zubac over 7.5 rebounds (-135 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
